Direct Comparison of the Multipath Performance of L1 BOC and C/A using On-Air Galileo and QZSS Transmissions

چکیده
New Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) satellites will bring common, interoperable GNSS signals on L1. These new signals, L1C Global Positioning System (GPS)/QuasiZenith Satellite System (QZSS) L1C and Galileo E1 Open Service (OS), promise performance improvements in many areas. One key area is that these signals, which use binary offset carrier (BOC) and multiplexed BOC (MBOC), will provide better multipath performance over the binary phase shift keyed (BPSK) GPS L1 C/A. This paper evaluates the benefit of difference using on-air measurements of these signals. The evaluation will utilize signals from to-be operational Galileo and QZSS satellites. The assessment conducts BPSK and BOC processing using signals from the same satellite to eliminate the effects of geometry. Keywords—multipath; BOC; MBOC

Development of a Pseudo Quasi Zenith Satellite and Multipath Analysis Using an Airborne platform
Japan has been developing a new satellite based positioning system called Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS). Since improvement of positioning availability in urban area is one of the most important advantages of the QZSS, multipath mitigation is a key factor for the QZSS positioning system. Therefore, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and GNSS Inc. developed a pseudolite, which trans...
متن کاملMultipath Mitigation Performance Comparison of Strobe Correlators in GNSS Receivers
This paper introduces effective methods of decreasing multipath errors by utilizing strobe correlators designed for GPS coarse-acquisition (C/A) code for future modernized signals including the BOC (n,n) modulation used for GPS L1C, Galileo E1 and the GLONASS new CDMA signal. The implementation and performance of different types of strobes are compared and discussed. The strobe concept is espec...
متن کاملSidelobes Cancellation Method for Unambiguous Tracking of Binary-offset-carrier Modulated Signals
The signals proposed for the future European Galileo system and the GPS M-code signals use split-spectrum-type modulations, such as Binary-Offset-Carrier (BOC) modulation. Sine and cosine BOC modulations multiply the spreading code with rectangular sub-carriers and create a split-spectrum signal with the main lobes shifted around the sub-carrier frequency. This type of modulation brings multipl...
متن کاملNew Unambiguous Boc(n,n) Tracking Technique
Galileo and Modernized GPS have included in their signal structures a new signal modulation: the Binary Offset Carrier (BOC). In the navigation field, this modulation is characterized by the chipping rate of its spreading code (m×1.023 MHz) and the frequency of its square sub-carrier (n×1.023 MHz). As a consequence, it is usually referred to as a BOC(n,m) modulation. The choice of the parameter...
متن کاملA Method of Side-peak Mitigation Applied to Binary Offset Carrier Modulated Gnss Signals Tracking Applied in Gnss Receivers
In this study, a new method of signal tracking technique in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is proposed. It is based on a combination of the autocorrelation function (ACF) with another cross correlation function in order to eliminate or reduce the power of the side peaks in ACF of Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulated signals. These types of modulated signals are adopted by both GNSSs...
